Why every creator needs an email list in 2026 (and how to start one in 10 minutes)

Oct 27, 2026 · Contact Concert

If you've been posting for a while, you've probably lived through it: a video that would have done 200,000 views last year now does 20,000. You didn't get worse. The feed changed.

Social platforms are incredible for discovery. They're terrible for ownership. Your followers belong to the platform, and the platform decides how many of them see each post. An email list flips that. When someone gives you their email, you can reach them directly, whenever you want, with no algorithm in between.

The numbers that matter

  • Organic reach on the big social platforms often reaches only a small share of your followers per post.
  • A healthy creator newsletter regularly gets 40% to 60% open rates, because people chose to hear from you.
  • Email is portable. If a platform disappears, bans your account or changes its rules, your list comes with you.

The math is simple: 5,000 email subscribers who open half of what you send is a more reliable audience than 50,000 followers who might see one post in ten.

Why most creators never start

Creators know all of this. The problem is time. Writing a good newsletter every week is a second job: picking what to include, writing intros, finding thumbnails, formatting links, sending, and doing it again next week.

So the list sits at 37 subscribers and the "weekly" newsletter goes out twice a year.

The automated way

Here's the shift: you already create the content. Your videos, episodes, posts and articles are the newsletter. You just need something to collect them, write them up in your voice, and send them on a schedule.

That's exactly what Contact Concert does:

  1. Connect your channels. Paste your YouTube channel, podcast feed, Substack, Medium or blog. Add TikTok, Instagram and X posts by link.
  2. Describe your voice once. "Friendly, a little nerdy, short sentences, I call my fans the crew."
  3. Pick a schedule. Weekly, every two weeks, or whenever you post something new.

Every issue gets a personal intro, a hook for each piece of content, three subject lines and a preview line. Review it before it goes out, or switch on autopilot.

Getting your first 100 subscribers

  • Put your signup link in every bio. Your Contact Concert page lives at contactconcert.com/@yourname.
  • Give a reason. "Behind the scenes and early access every Sunday" beats "join my newsletter."
  • Mention it in your content. One line at the end of a video is enough.
  • Pin it. A pinned post or comment with your signup link works for months.
  • Import who you already have. If you have emails from a shop, a course or an old list, bring them over with a CSV.
