Newsletter deliverability for creators: how to land in the inbox, not spam
Oct 29, 2026 · Contact Concert
You can write the best newsletter in the world, but if it lands in spam nobody will read it. The good news: for creators, deliverability comes down to a handful of habits.
1. Only email people who asked
This is the big one. Never buy lists or scrape emails. Use double opt-in, so new subscribers confirm by clicking a link before they get issues. It keeps typos, bots and fake signups off your list, and inbox providers reward lists where people actually want the mail.
Contact Concert has double opt-in on by default, and the signup forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile to stop bots.
2. Make unsubscribing effortless
It sounds backwards, but an easy unsubscribe protects you. If leaving is hard, people hit "Report spam" instead, and complaints are the fastest way to damage your sender reputation.
Since 2024, Gmail and Yahoo have required bulk senders to support one-click unsubscribe (RFC 8058) and to keep spam complaints low. Every Contact Concert email includes the one-click List-Unsubscribe header and a visible unsubscribe link.
3. Authenticate your sending domain
SPF, DKIM and DMARC are DNS records that prove an email really came from who it says. Without them, many providers treat mail as suspicious. Contact Concert sends from an authenticated domain with all three in place, so you don't have to touch DNS.
4. Clean your list automatically
- Hard bounces (addresses that don't exist) should be removed right away.
- Complaints should never get another email.
- Long-inactive subscribers are worth a re-engagement email, or removing.
Contact Concert removes hard bounces and complaints automatically.
5. Write subject lines like a human
Spam filters and readers both dislike the same things:
- ALL CAPS and stacks of exclamation points!!!
- "Free", "act now", "guaranteed" and other pushy sales words
- Subject lines that don't match the email
Specific and curious works best: "I shot a whole film on a $300 camera" beats "AMAZING NEW VIDEO!!!". The AI writer gives you three human subject lines for every issue and avoids spammy phrasing.
6. Send on a steady schedule
Inbox providers like consistency. A steady weekly or biweekly rhythm builds reputation. Sudden bursts after months of silence look suspicious. Automation helps here more than anything: your newsletter goes out on time, every time.
7. Invite replies
Replies are one of the strongest positive signals an inbox provider can see. End every issue with a question. Set a reply-to address you actually check.
The short version
Get permission, make leaving easy, authenticate, clean up bounces, write like a person and stay consistent. Do that and your newsletter will reach the people who want it.
